Summary: “The Kama Project has been a very big project, certainly the largest in Nangahar in 1993, and was taken on by the Swedish Committee, who were one of the few NGO’s in summer 1992, brave enough and financially capable enough to take on such a project. The devastation to the intake area was very severe, and was clearly going to require time to repair, but the priority was to get water into Kama, and stabilize and build on what was left, before the 1993 floods came. The project has been approached under three phases, as follows : phase one (August 1992 to 31st Jan 1993) : phase two (1st February to 31st August 1993) : phase three (September 1993 onwards)”—(p. 6).
